How does a small shop in Houston have that kind of customer base? Well this small shop has one big warehouse! And it comes with 40
There is a lot of bad information on the internet about proper maintenance and how-to fix your outboards. We see it every day, when someone rolls in and we tell them what the problem is (generally owner caused)… they say, “Well I read it on an internet forum?”
Well maybe one of those guys can help you pay for the damage you have done.
Outside of your owner’s manual that comes with a new motor, a certified repair center is who you need to go to for service and maintenance advice.
Please don’t refer to a chat board, where you have no clue who could be giving you advice….
Stone and Sons Marine
Over and over I’m told
“ I haven’t run it but one or two times since my last tune up”
“When was your last tune up?” …. I’m told last year or longer.
In their thinking they believe they haven’t run it enough to have any problems.
Here is the problem. Most motors have components on them that hold fuel.
If given enough time, fuel will evaporate or dry out, then your carbs are left with residue in them. Sometimes the remaining fuel will be mixed with oil, once the gas is gone it’s a gunky oil mess.
Think of this as a clogged artery restricting fuel flow.
Another problem from non use – With today’s ethanol fuel, you can have deterioration of the inner lining of your fuel lines at low spots
